Turnip Rock Kayak Trip

In June, Reens found a little Air B&B right on the water in Port Austin. It was a short ways away from Turnip Rock, which has been on my hit list, so we went. Here's a small photo dump, but a quick summary:
- Check the weather before you go. We have our own, but the kayak rental place shuts down if it's too bad... and if they do that I wouldn't want to brave it, rental or not.
- It's a decent paddle, not strenuous, but don't underestimate the trip. Bring snacks and some water, travel by the shore and stop if you need to.
- There are some incredible places to stop along the way and even on the far side of the rock (if you are coming from Port Austin). Don't overlook the trip just to get to the rock.
- The Sea Caves... see the point above. On the east side of the rock are some incredible caves that, depending on how high the tide is, you can paddle right through. It's not as good of a photo op, but I thought it was just as impressive as Turnip Rock itself.
- Turnip Rock has a few places to pull your kayaks up, get out, and enjoy the scenery. Make sure you get there early or are prepared to hang around and wait (especially on weekends) to get a good spot.
In the pics you'll see that a GoPro isn't the best for capturing landscape shots but that's okay. The dot flying across the sky is a bald eagle. It was pretty majestic in person, you'll have to believe me.
